About Hale Health and Safety Solutions
Who we work for
Caring leaders understand there is a deep connection between the wellbeing of their people and the long-term success of their organizations. They see how work can either support people to flourish — or quietly wear them down over time.
Hale Health and Safety Solutions exists to support those leaders.
Founded by Liz Horvath, Hale works with organizations that want to move beyond surface-level solutions and address the real conditions that shape people’s experiences at work. Our focus is not on fixing individuals, but on improving the systems, expectations, and environments that influence how work is designed, managed, and experienced.
Our perspective on work and wellbeing
Work occupies a significant portion of our lives. When it is poorly designed or chronically stressful, the impact extends well beyond the workplace — affecting health, relationships, families, and communities.
When work is supportive, fair, and sustainable, it can be a powerful source of purpose, stability, and growth.
At Hale, we believe the way work is designed today shapes not only individual wellbeing, but the wellbeing of future generations. Leaders have both an opportunity and a responsibility to create conditions where people can thrive at work and still have the energy, presence, and capacity to fully engage in their lives beyond it.
What guides our work
Hale’s work is grounded in a few core principles:
- Prevention over reaction
Focusing on upstream approaches that reduce harm before people reach a breaking point. - Systems-based thinking
Recognizing that workload, role clarity, leadership practices, policies, and decision-making structures profoundly influence how work is experienced. - Evidence-informed and practical
Grounding our work in research, standards, and established frameworks — while translating them into guidance leaders can realistically apply. - Dignity, respect, and psychological safety
Understanding that trust is foundational to healthy, sustainable workplaces. - Partnership with accountability
Working collaboratively while maintaining a clear focus on meaningful, lasting action.
The benefit of working with Hale
Organizations that work with Hale gain clarity, confidence, and a practical path forward.
Leaders develop a deeper understanding of the root causes of stress and disengagement in their workplaces, are better equipped to make informed decisions, and are supported in taking action that aligns with both their values and their responsibilities.
The result is not just reduced risk — but stronger leadership practices, healthier team dynamics, and workplaces where people are better able to do their best work.
About Liz Horvath
Liz Horvath brings a depth of experience spanning occupational health and safety, psychological health and safety, program development, and organizational change.
Her work is grounded in extensive experience developing, implementing, and strengthening occupational health and safety and psychological health and safety programs as part of broader organizational management systems. This includes deep expertise with the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace (CSA Z1003) and ISO 45003 — Occupational health and safety management: Psychological health and safety at work — as well as occupational health and safety due diligence, disability management, emergency preparedness and response, and change management.
Liz’s expertise has been shaped through professional roles with organizations including Gowlings, the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and the Mental Health Commission of Canada. In these roles, she worked at the intersection of law, standards, and workplace practice — contributing to work that influenced how organizations across Canada understand and approach due diligence, risk, and psychological health and safety.
This experience gave Liz deep insight into the realities leaders face when trying to do the right thing in complex environments, often under significant pressure and competing demands.
Outside of her work, Liz values time spent outdoors and with family — places where perspective, patience, and care are restored.
